Welcome to the Invercargill Repertory Society

About Us

Invercargill Repertory Society Inc. or just Rep which it is fondly known as, has been an Invercargill institution for over 80 years. Since 1936 Rep's mission has been to Promote, Provide and Foster Performing Arts in the community.
Each year Rep produces amateur theatrical productions in our very own purpose-build 140 seat theatre which is available for hire to the public outside our performance schedule. Rep also has an active Youth Drama Department that introduces, trains and performs productions for school-aged children who have an interest in the Performing Arts. If you need a costume or a dress up outfit we also have Invercargill's best Costume Hire Department, Click on the Rep Services link above to find out more.
As a registered charity and a voluntary organisation we rely on many volunteers who spend 100s of hours in all aspects of the Society including management, maintenance, set building, lighting, sound, production, off stage and on stage. Without these amazing people we could not possibly deliver on our mission. If this sounds like you, please feel free to click on our Membership link and fill out an Application form.
We are also thankful to the local community and sponsors who without whose support there would be no Repertory. Enjoy our website, have a troll around and if you need any more information or would like to contact us click on the Contacts link.

From the President

Welcome to your local voluntary Repertory Invercargill, where passion meets performance, and community thrives through the magic of theatre. Since our inception (86 years ago), we've been dedicated to celebrating the rich tapestry of dramatic arts while fostering a vibrant sense of belonging within our community.

At the heart of our society is a group of dedicated volunteers who share a love for storytelling and the stage. From seasoned actors to backstage crew, directors to costume designers, we come together with one common goal: to bring memorable and engaging theatrical experiences to our audiences.

But we're more than just a theatre group. We're a close-knit family, bound by creativity, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to excellence. Whether you're a seasoned performer or someone looking to explore your passion for theatre for the first time, there's a place for you here.

Through our productions, workshops, youth drama classes and community gatherings, we aim to inspire, entertain, and enrich the lives of all who engage with us. Join us on this exciting journey as we continue to bring the magic of the stage to our local community. Welcome to Repertory Invercargill – where every role matters, and every story is worth telling.
